The biggest football clubs around the world have been using advanced technology for over a dozen years to help analyze the game and contribute to the development of players. The company from Katowice has created an application that offers similar opportunities to less affluent clubs. Just a simple smartphone and a special vest.
Smartphones – cheaper option
The first test application Krystian and Paul created at the beginning of the year. – We ran the snow ourselves to test it. We have compiled our data into Excel. We could easily interpret the parameters of individual movements – says Krystian.
How does the application work in practice? It is enough to operate an Android-powered smartphone (in the future, Krystian and Paul want to create solutions for both iPhone and Windows Mobile) and a chest-mounted waistcoat to which the phone is inserted. LUDMO with a GPS and accelerometer (tools that, among other things, to rotate the screen in the cell), sends information related to the movement of players to the server. The application measures Maximum and average speed and distance traveled. Trainers have a graph of player activity in each part of the workout and match, and analysis of their commitment and performance – the device displays the percentage of sprint, trot, walk and inertia of a competitor. Trainers can also use the so-called. A heat map that shows which areas of the field the individual players were moving and how they implemented the tactics. How does the application work in practice? Standard smartphones feature 10-hr GPS and 100-h accelerometer. Many top clubs in the world use technology with similar parameters. As far as sensors are concerned, we are at a similar level. We get similar data. Relying on smartphones is certainly an option cheaper. We do not exclude, however, that in the future we will introduce other devices – explains Krystian
Application in Senegal
In order to use the application, the trainer must register on a dedicated web portal and fill in the details of his team. Then the activation code is received. Each player who installs LUDMO must enter these numbers on his smartphone. This allows the player applications to synchronize with the coach application. After the training session, the trainer gets the data from the phones of his charges and literally a few seconds later sees their “performance” on his computer. It can easily compare to previous workouts.
LUDMO creators do not hide that the application is dedicated primarily to low budget seniors and juniors and skaters. “It’s a huge market, despite appearances. Only a few clubs in Poland for professional measuring equipment from the top shelf is able to pay several hundred thousand zlotys for the season – says Krystian Duława.
LUDMO offers a much cheaper solution. The basic package of the application is to cost the team about 100 euros a month, extended – about 300 euros. In addition, each player will have to buy a vest. It costs 15euros.
So far, the application has tested several smaller clubs from Silesia and the Basin. Very good impression of LUDMO was made on the players and training staff Czarni Sosnowiec. This is a woman team playing in the highest Polish leauge Ekstraliga.
– Numbers and statistics is a tool that is essential in modern football. Thanks to the applications and vests we could. Verify what are the maximum speed and fitness options for our athletes and just prepare these activities to optimize the intensity for each of them. We also had a look at who was involved in 100% of the first classes before the new season, and who was a bit forgiving. For the athlete it is an additional motivation to work. Monitoring your workouts makes each one of you give everything. This commitment will surely translate into later in the form of league matches. Application testing has provoked little excitement among our ladies. It was a breeze of the big football world – says Łukasz Wojtala, the second coach of the Black Sosnowiec footballers.
The training staff of the club has already decided on long-term cooperation with LUDMO. In the coming days the application will also be tested in … Senegal, by one of the top clubs of the local league, Stade de Mbour.
– A colleague I worked with in Germany came from Senegal. He has many contacts in the football environment. He told the activists about our application and – as he reported – it met with great enthusiasm. We sent our vests by post, any day should come. The African market can certainly be a big challenge for us, but first we focus on Poland and Eastern Europe. We have an ambitious plan for LUDMO to be present in at least a few countries by the end of the year, “announces Krystian Dulawa.
Looking for football talent
Application developers are constantly working on enhancements. Scientists from the Silesian University of Technology invited them. Soon there will be new options for LUDMO. It will be possible to combine it. With a heart rate sensor.
– This is an extended package that is already in the final stages of development. Will include He recognized which leg he used to give or shot. Sometimes trainers prepare classes to improve the weaker. In practice, the trainer does not always have the opportunity to see if his young team members are not helping out with such a better footwork. In a post-training report, you will be able to easily verify who cheated. We also want to prepare a team activity map. For the coach to see, for example, whether the defenders are able to line up and how often the wing engage in defensive play – adds Dulawa.
As the LUDMO creators point out, their application can contribute to the technological revolution in many smaller football clubs around the world. The system will help you find football talent and grind their skills. – We give our trainers extra eyes. Kids in turn can feel like Messi, Ronaldo or Lewandowski. They also run in black vests with GPS. Some of these young football players may after a while say, “E, it does not make sense, people are watching us all the time,” but for the most ambitious certainly will be a huge injection of motivation for further work – says Krystian Dulawa.
The LUDMO application, although prepared primarily for football players, can also test other sports. Krystian Duława and Paweł Gnych plan a solution dedicated to disciplines grown in closed rooms.
